Sunnyside Records is a respected contemporary jazz label with an expansive and unique catalogue of artists. In celebration of their 45-year-long commitment to highlighting the hidden gems of the jazz scene, I was inspired to rebrand their visual identity.

Promoting remixed versions of individual artists’ songs was an appropriate way to celebrate this, instead of just exclusively re-designing their website. In the 1980s (when the label was founded), post-modernism was pushing artists and musicians to new horizons, so this became was the main inspiration for the look and feel of the remixed singles. It combines decades-old art movements with modern, sleek design.

Development

Experimentation with various brushes, art tools, and materials was my main approach to rebranding this record label. Scanning in these dynamic textures
at a high resolution allowed me to crop into details and eventually build full compositions.
